7 New Home Remodeling Trends in 2023

Cheers to the New Year! 2023 is almost here, and it isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Here are the top trends that will take over the home remodeling market in the new year.

In 2023, we’re upgrading our living spaces and moving towards a more functional approach. Out are the days of minimalism and stark white walls. We’re introducing more color and finding new ways to get functional and creative in our remodels. We’ve formulated this list full of ideas that can help you plan your future remodel!

Welcome Back, Wallpaper!

Yes, it’s back and better than ever. While we had fun with the typical painted accent walls, which definitely aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, wallpaper is making its way into our homes in 2023. Wallpaper with fun, bold prints are taking over once again. Most popular in powder rooms, wallpaper is being added into bathrooms, dining rooms, and living areas as the perfect accent wall to bring personality and color into your home.

Functional Kitchen Islands

More than just a beautiful feature in your typical modern kitchen, people want more use out of their island, and in 2023, we’re doing just that! Incorporating more storage into your kitchen island for easily accessible cooking or a large island with seating in mind for that Sunday morning breakfast with the family, the kitchen island is evolving in 2023.

Unwind and Relax in a Spa Bathroom

After the stress of the last few years, more and more homeowners want a bathroom that feels like a spa oasis where they can escape and relax while they wash off the troubles of the day. Large tubs, walk-in showers, low light, and natural colors are some of the staple features of an ideal spa-like bathroom.

Entering a World in Color

Over the last few years, we saw a steady trend of homes with white walls and muted colors, but that is about to change. In 2023, we’re entering the world of color and leaving the “safe” colors behind. “Moody,” darker colors are expected to take over the market, followed by our oh-so-lovely blue hue. Color can be scary, but when done properly, it can be the most beautiful part of your home.

Mud Rooms

It’s okay to get dirty, but keep the house clean! Mudrooms are becoming increasingly popular as it helps stop the tracking of mud into the home. They provide families a nice “drop-zone” for things that don’t need to be brought into the main areas of the house. Coat racks, shoe racks, laundry areas, and other spaces make it the ideal area to drop items on your way in or grab them on your way out of the home.

Laundry Rooms

What was once a boring chore, laundry is getting all the love in 2023. An expected trend we can see a rise in is the creation or remodeling of a laundry room in the room. Repurposing unused space in your home or changing the floor plan to make space for one, laundry rooms are becoming a big hit! With a beautiful backsplash, tons of storage, and counter space for folding, the laundry room is far from basic.

Storage, Storage, Storage!

A trend that will never go away is the idea of smart storage. Built-in shelves, pull-out pantry drawers, deep utensil drawers, double drawers with silverware, and more. Finding new and creative ways to incorporate storage into your home and space is expected to rise in 2023.

Although these trends are expected to take over in 2023, you don’t have to follow them exactly. The best part of remodeling is that every design is tailored exactly to you, your lifestyle, and your taste. The easiest way to love your home is when you get to design it exactly to your liking.
